Hi, I’m Denis though some people still know me as Sprnza. I’m Russian by birth but currently based in Herceg Novi (MNE) with occasional trips back to Murom (RU) to visit the people I hold dear.

My passion for computers, infrastructure and services dates back to when I was 5. Long before I actually owned any hardware. I got my first computer when I was studing at university and I dove headfirst into my obsession: Linux and Open Source. When PCs eventually became ubiquitous my parents and friends with tears of happines were dragged into this wonderful Open Source world with my undeniable help. My time as an “ambassador” culminated in my role as an admin for the Russian Ubuntu Team forum.

Originally I studied Radiotech. It was practically the only game in town (Murom had 7 major factories for 100k people) so becoming a radio engineer seemed like the only feasible path to success. However a stint at a design bureau convinced me I’d made a mistake. But while I make mistakes, I also know how to bounce back.

And bounce back I did. I discovered that companies are ready to pay me with real money for what I trully like to do. I pivoted to DevOps.

What I do now:

  • I spend my days making developers happier and businesses thrive by building resilient, simple infrastructure (On-prem, Cloud, Hybrid).
  • I believe in the “Platform” approach: strong core, transparent setup, zero unnecessary complexity.

When I’m not deploying: I’m playing tennis struggling with chords on my guitar or coding music on Strudel.cc.
